The Skills Our Children Need For The Future

Per a recent World Economic Forum report, a global trend is emerging. As automation and technological advances reduce the need for repetitive tasks, specialized technical and analytical skills will be in higher demand. By 2022, at least 54% of all employees will be required to learn new skills to meet the changing needs of their employers [1].

Even the experts aren’t sure what jobs will be available in the future as they likely don’t exist yet. What’s clear is that we will need smart, self-driven and adaptable people to learn quickly and adjust to whatever the world might need. Take a look at the following 10 trending skills for 2022 and beyond:

  • Analytical thinking and innovation
  • Active learning and learning strategies
  • Creativity, originality and initiative
  • Technology design and programming
  • Critical thinking and analysis
  • Complex problem-solving
  • Leadership and social influence
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Reasoning, problem-solving and ideation
  • Systems analysis and evaluation [1]

Most of the list above focuses on the ability to continually learn, innovate, analyze and problem solve. This doesn’t lessen the importance of what our children learn in school, but rather heightens the value of how they think about what they learn and can innovate from it.

The future of the job market may be a question mark, but how well you prepare your child to adapt to that uncertain future doesn’t have to be.

The critical skills to best prepare your child require real world, hands-on experience. Just like riding a bike, the earlier your child can start to exercise his or her brain in that way, the better.

“Kids need skills that prepare them for the unknown since so many jobs in the future don’t exist today.”    – Olivia Gallo, Founder

Our founder, Olivia Gallo, is a mother and successful entrepreneur who began inventing and launching businesses in elementary school. She credits a lot of her adult success to those early experiences. Today, children don’t have enough opportunities to build the skills they need to adapt in the future. Olivia created Venture Learning to help fill this critical gap.

“The lessons were very comprehensive, they were friendly, and I learned a lot overall!  I could not think of a better website to learn this stuff.”     – Ansh G, Student

Kids are hungry for these opportunities! Our company exists because of the overwhelming interest in entrepreneurship material from the children themselves.

Venture Learning’s curriculum is designed to be flexible, experiential, and heavily influenced by the child as it allows students to create a real product and take it to market. Unlike reading from a textbook, this builds key skills of critical thinking, analysis, and problem solving in a way that resonates with each child’s view of the world.
